Slime Time @ the Fountain Fall Festival

Labor Day Monday, 2019. Slime Time is a chance to love on our community at the Fountain Fall Festival, Metcalfe Park. We want them to know that Cross Creek Church cares by serving up some fun. We will help kids make slime with detergent, glue and water. Kids love it. We get to meet new people, and parents will know that Cross Creek is a place to belong. Volunteers are asked to wear a Cross Creek shirt when they serve, be present 10 minutes prior to their shift and to work for an hour and a half shift. Shifts are: 1) 8:30am set up; 2) 10am; 3) 11:30am; 4) 1pm. Sign up at the coffee station on Sundays.

Mega Sports Camp

Kids develop skills for BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, SOCCER and BASEBALL!

MEGA Sports Camp gets preschool and elementary kids out of their chairs and moving into the Word of God. Bible teaching interwoven with sports training make an unforgettable, life-changing vacation bible school.

This event is Monday through Thursday evenings starting at 6pm & ending at 8:30pm. July 29-August 1. At Cross Creek Church, 1320 C & S Road in Fountain, Co. 80817

This FREE event is for kids from 4 years old to 5th grade. All kids will get a chance to learn some basic skills in basketball, soccer, baseball and football. There will be snacks, music and and much more for your kids. Children will receive a free camp t-shirt if they register by July 21. After July 21, shirts will be on a first come first serve basis. Kids should bring a baseball mitt with their name on it.  You can bring a basketball and soccer-ball as well.  We will have some ball mitts on hand, if you don't have one. Kids who bring a friend will get a MSC bounce ball. If they bring a second friend, they will receive a MSC water bottle. And if kids bring a third friend, they will win a MSC Carabiner.

You can volunteer to be a leader here. You must be going into the 6th grade or older to be a Mega Sports Camp volunteer.

The Bridge (kids) Camp

The Bridge (kids) Camp

For kids completing 3rd & 4th Grades. Those completing 5th grade this year go to Wake Summer Camp. So Bridge Camp is for kids who will be in the 4th & 5th grade during the 2019-2020 school season. The total Bridge Camp Cost: $235. We need a $50 Deposit due May 5. Then the $185 Balance is due May 26. Complete registration and required documents are also due by May 26. Campers are not officially registered until you fill out the form at the “Camper Registration” link below. A late fee of $30 is applied to anything received after May 26th. If we run out of room and you register your child, they will automatically be put on a waiting list. You will be notified when a spot becomes available for your child.

Camp Fund Raiser is a discount card to be used at local restaurants. You sell the card for $20 and you earn $14 toward your camp fees. See Pastor Ryan to get your packet of 10 discount cards and instructions.

A brief Parent Meeting will be April 28th and/or May 5th after each service. You only need to attend one meeting. We will give you some information about camp and answers questions.

Men's Hike & Bible Study

Do you enjoy hiking in the mountains and the godly friendship of other Men?  Then let’s do this! Meet @ the church @ 9am.  We will car pool to the Cheyenne Canyon Region. It's about 20 minutes from the church. We are hiking Seven Bridges Trail. It is a 3.7-mile hike on a heavily trafficked out and back (total hiking mileage) that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate.  We will be back to the church at about 1pm. Register Here.

Bring your hiking gear, plenty of water, a sack lunch and bible. 

We recommend dressing in layers. Wear a shirt under a long sleeve shirt. Bring a fleece, a hat and a rain coat in your back pack. Use good walking shoes preferably with ankle support. Avoid cotton fabric as much as possible. We will be back to the church at about 1pm.

If you would like to dedicate your child at our next dedication ceremony, please read the following information to prepare for this special occasion.

What You Should Know in Preparation for a “Child Dedication” Ceremony

Deuteronomy 6:1-9  “These are the commands, decrees, and regulations that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. You must obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy, and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life. Listen closely, Israel, and be careful to obey. Then all will go well with you, and you will have many children in the land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

·      In Hebrew, these verses are known as the Shema (“hear” in Hebrew). It is the classic Hebrew confession of faith, describing who God is and what our duty is towards Him.

·      Jesus called this the great commandment (Matthew 22:37-38); and He said the second commandment, “you shall love your neighbor as yourself,” was like this first, great commandment. When we love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, we will find it easy to love our neighbor as ourselves.

·      These words which I command you today shall be in your heart: This great command must first be in our heart. Then it must be communicated to our children, the topic of our conversation, and should always be in front of us - as near as our hand or our forehead, as ever before us as our doorposts and gates.

1 Samuel 1:24-28 When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three-year-old bull for the sacrifice and a basket of flour and some wine.  After sacrificing the bull, they brought the boy to Eli.  “Sir, do you remember me?” Hannah asked. “I am the woman who stood here several years ago praying to the Lord.  I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request.  Now I am giving him to the Lord, and he will belong to the Lord his whole life.” And they worshiped the Lord there.”

What can we apply to our lives from these scriptures?

·      As parents we have the privilege of being an example of obedience to God’s Word and benefits of His blessings both spiritually and physically.

·      Our children should not only hear us talk about Jesus’ teachings but they should see us live out Jesus’ teachings.

·      Our homes should remind us of God’s Word.

·      Our homes should be a place of spiritual growth and rest.

·      We can place our faith and trust in God for our children’s spiritual direction.

·      We are to do our part in raising our children in a godly manner.  Notice Ephesians 6:1-4 “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.  ‘Honor your father and mother.’ This is the first commandment with a promise:  If you honor your father and mother, ‘things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.’ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.”

·      By God’s grace our children will be saved and worship His Son Jesus with their heart, soul, mind and strength. 

Ephesians 2:4-10 “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!  For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.  So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.  God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.  Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.  For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Here are a few things to have done the Wednesday before your child’s dedication ceremony. 

Please email a picture of your child to Ridge@crosscreekfountain.com. We will put this picture on the big screen during the dedication ceremony.  Include a passage of scripture that you would like for the child to grow up knowing.  We will read this during the ceremony as well.   Finally, include Parent(s) first and last name, the child’s or children’s first and last name and please include which service will be attending i.e. 1st or 2nd. 

Sometimes I am asked by a parent, “What bible verse should I use?”  Pick one that speaks to your heart. One that is appropriate for this occasion.  Here are some suggestions for passages of scripture that you might want to use in dedicating your child.  However, these are not exclusive.

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1 Chronicles 4:10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.

Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Psalm 91:1,2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalm 143:8-10, Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. 9 Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. 10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Hydrate Winter Camp is COMING!

At the base of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range outside of Westcliffe, Colorado, Hydrate will be holding this event at the beautiful Sky Ranch Horn Creek! Hydrate Winter Camp will provide the opportunity to be free from the daily grind, free from the pressure and stresses of the outside world, free to unplug from technology, and free to fully enjoy the gift of friendships, mentorships, and most importantly, GOD!
